Daddy Yankee and J Balvin Among Winners at 2018 Latin Grammy Awards

While the 'Despacito' hitmaker wins Best Urban Song for 'Dura', Balvin brings home Best Urban Music Album trophy for 'Vibras'.

AceShowbiz - All the winners at the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards have just been announced at the ceremony which took place at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday night, November 15. There were over 48 different awards being handed out throughout the show, and Daddy Yankee as well as J Balvin were among the recipient for the trophies.

Even though Balvin had to lose to Yankee for the Best Urban Song accolade, which the latter won for his song "Dura", he was honored with Best Urban Music Album for his record "Vibras". He defeated the likes of Ozuna and Tote King to win the award.

Meanwhile, Jorge Drexler took home three awards at the event. In addition to winning Best Singer-Songwriter Album for "Salvavidas De Hielo", the Uruguay native nabbed Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his hit "Telefonia". Also bringing home multiple awards at the event was Luis Miguel, who snatched the coveted Best Ranched/Mariachi Album and Album of the Year for "MEXICO Por Siempre".

That night was also an emotional night for Karol G, who beat out Angela Aguilar, Anaadi, El David Aguilar and Alex Ferreira among others to notch Best New Artist. Taking the stage with her father to receive the award, she said during her acceptance speech, "Four years ago, I shared a post on Instagram congratulating J Balvin for his Latin Grammy, hoping that one day I had to have one also. To all those that believe, thank you to my label, my family."

"I want to share this with all the women who this year have done great things in the industry, I want to share it with them!" she continued, before addressing her father. "And I want to thank this man who has been with me throughout my career, my dad."
