The songstress' contribution will be included on the deluxe version of the soundtrack album, which will be available to stream on November 2.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry was so fond of Broadway smash "Dear Evan Hansen" that she decided to lend her voice for its soundtrack album. The "Roar" hitmaker released a cover of "Waving Through a Window" on Thursday, November 1.

The song serves as the play's protagonist's power anthem, which finds Evan wondering how long he is going to spend his life trapped inside the window society has made for him. A true professional, Katy expresses Evan's feelings perfectly on her cover.

"On the outside, always looking in/ Will I ever be more than I've always been?/ 'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass/ I'm waving through a window," she sings. "I try to speak, but nobody can hear/ So I wait around for an answer to appear."

In a lengthy statement, the "American Idol" judge recalled watching the play for the first time and how she was particularly moved by "Waving Through a Window". Thus, when the show's creator Benj Pasek and Justin Paul asked her to re-record the song, she agreed immediately.

"That night, I was particularly struck by the song 'Waving Through a Window'. It embodied the mental isolation I sometimes fought," she wrote. "So when my friends [Benj Pasek] and [Justin Paul] came to me and asked if I would like to re-record this song, not only to help launch the national tour, but to continue on mental health and all its complexities, I jumped right in."

She concluded, "I hope this song helps you know that you are not alone, and that I'm waving back at you."

Her contribution will be included on the deluxe version of "Dear Evan Hansen" soundtrack album, which is available to stream on November 2. The album will also feature previously unreleased songs, demos and acoustic versions performed by original and current cast members to the Broadway production.
