The character is initially supposed to appear in a few scenes on the 8-part limited series about the Fox News chief.

AceShowbiz - One character reportedly doesn't make it to the final cut on Showtime's series about Fox News chief Roger Ailes. It's reported that Showtime and Lionsgate make an alteration regarding a Megyn Kelly character following the latter's scandal regarding her Halloween blackface comments.

The Hollywood Reported previously stated that a Megyn character was removed from the limited series. The character was initially supposed to appear in a few scenes on the 8-part limited series based on Gabriel Sherman's book "The Loudest Voice in the Room".

However, when asked for a comment, a Showtime representative suggested that Megyn could still appear on the upcoming series. "Megyn Kelly has always been a minor character in our limited series -- mentioned or appearing in a handful of scenes over the course of the eight episodes," the rep explained. "The role has yet to be cast. No changes have been made to this role since the project was first announced."

Sherman, who co-wrote the first episode with Spotlight writer Tom McCarthy, added, "Megyn Kelly was a peripheral participant in Ailes' downfall. As I reported at the time, it was Gretchen Carlson and her lawyer Nancy Erika Smith that drove the events that led to Ailes' ouster. Kelly's decision to meet with Paul Weiss lawyers was important -- she was Fox's biggest star at the time -- but by the time she spoke to investigators Ailes' fate had been sealed. Any dramatization that makes her a central character in Ailes' takedown is pure fiction."

The series is set to star Russell Crowe as Ailes. He will be joined by Naomi Watts, who has been tapped to play Gretchen Carlson.

The news arrives after Kelly landed in hot water after she defended blackface by white people in Tuesday, October 23 of her "Today" show. After the backlash, Megyn issued an apology through an internal email to her NBC colleagues. It's currently reported that NBC and Kelly's lawyer is in talks regarding her exit.
