While criticizing members of his family for speaking negatively against the Duchess of Sussex, Tyler Dooley claims that his grandfather, Thomas Markle, was 'always been great' to her.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex's nephew Tyler Dooley has slammed members of their family for harming her father by publicly criticising her.

Meghan's dad Thomas Markle, Sr., who is Tyler's grandfather, was at the centre of a media storm in the run-up to her wedding to Britain's Prince Harry in May after it emerged he had staged paparazzi shots of him preparing to head to England for the nuptials. He did not attend the ceremony alongside his ex-wife Doria Ragland after undergoing heart surgery.

Since the wedding Thomas and members of the extended Markle family, notably Meghan's half-sister Samantha Grant, have regularly criticised the royal family or the Duchess herself in interviews. Tyler blames his granddad's behaviour on his struggle to cope with the attention - and is angry at other family members for stirring things up.

"It's overwhelming, but you know what goes on in the media with members of my family and it's just terrible," the 26-year-old tells British newspaper The Times. "It's an embarrassment to have family members out there speaking negatively about Meghan and it's just something that shouldn't be reported. They continue to give them a platform to kind of spew hate, you know. I'm really done seeing that."

Thomas' unhelpful comments have included accusing the royals of taking his daughter, who announced she is pregnant earlier this month, "back to the 1930s" with her dress sense and an admission that he used to take cocaine - but Tyler says her dad means well.

"I speak to my grandfather almost every day," he reveals. "Of course, he has had a difficult time. All that I can say is that he's always been good to me. He's always been great to Meghan. He's always done everything for his kids that was possible."

Tyler, who runs his own marijuana firm called Royally Grown and flew over to the U.K. for the wedding although he wasn't invited, is taking part in a new MTV reality show, The Royal World. It features people with aristocratic connections and airs from 7 November.
