The Duffers brothers make the shocking revelation in a new behind-the-scenes companion book titled 'Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down'.

AceShowbiz - It turns out that Barbara (Shannon Purser) wasn't supposed to be the only character to die in season 1 of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things". A new behind-the-scenes companion book reveals that these three characters were originally going to be killed off in the first season of the sci-fi series.

According to "Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down", which is set to hit shelves on Tuesday, October 30, the Duffers brothers surprisingly were planning to write out Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven. Thank God, they didn't go with the plan.

In season 1 finale, Eleven disappeared after destroying the Demogorgon. "Eleven was going to sacrifice herself to save the day," co-creator Ross Duffer reveals in the book. "That was always the end game."

"But once we realized that the show was potentially going to go on longer than one season, we needed to leave it more up in the air, because deep down we knew the show just wouldn't really work without Eleven," he explains. "And at that point we knew how special Millie was. If there were going to be more 'Stranger Things', Eleven had to come back."

It is also revaled that Joe Keery's Steve Harrington and Sam Astin's Bob Newby were supposed to die. Bob eventually met its end in a gruesome death in the sophomore season, though it should be much way earlier than that.

The manager at the local Hawkins RadioShack and Joyce's (Winona Ryder) boyfriend was trapped in Hawkins Lab alongside Joyce, her son Will, Hopper and Mike. Bob attempted to restore the power system and succeed. But unfortunately, a Demodog attacked him and ultimately killed him before he could make it to safety.

Season 3 of "Stranger Things" will not arrive until 2019. Netflix's programming executive Cindy Holland previously explained the reason for the delay, "It's a handcrafted show. [Exec producers] The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high." Holland added, "They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so they really want to take the time to get it right."

In the upcoming season, Millie joins fellow returning cast members Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin. Also among returning actors are Winona, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer and Joe.

In addition to the returning stars, the new season will feature newcomers including Maya Thurman-Hawke, Francesca Reale, Cary Elwes and Jake Busey.
