Offering updates on the condition of the 'Sorry Not Sorry' singer, Dianna De La Garza tells Maria Menounos that battling addiction is not easy because there are no shortcuts.

AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato's mother has shared the singer is 90 days sober and on the road to recovery.

During an appearance on Maria Menounos' Sirius XM show, Dianna De La Garza shared the update following her daughter's suspected overdose back in July.

"Yes, she has 90 days and I couldn't be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it's work," Dianna, 56, said.

"It's very hard, it's not easy and there are no shortcuts," she continued, before adding that she was not aware of the circumstances surrounding Demi's hospitalisation.

"I can't really say for sure. I really don't know," she said.

Dianna also opened up about how she first found out about the heartbreaking and worrying news about her daughter.

"I was looking at my phone and I saw all these text messages coming in from all over... and the one text message that clued me in on what was going on said, 'I just saw on TMZ and I'm so sorry'," she confessed.

Initially unaware of the reasons Demi was taken to hospital, Dianna revealed she was afraid her daughter had died in a car accident.

"I was terrified to look at my phone," she added.

While the 26-year-old singer does not live with her mother, Dianna knew her daughter was no longer sober at the time of her suspected overdose.

"I just knew she wasn't sober and that's all I really knew at that time," she told host Maria.

And after getting a call from her daughter's then-assistant, Kelsey Kershner, Dianna rushed to the hospital with her eldest child Dallas.

"It was a rough two days," she sadly added.
