The rumors started after the 'Supernatural' star was spotted on the set of Arrowverse's upcoming crossover event 'Elseworlds'.

AceShowbiz - No, guys, Jensen Ackles is not our new Batman. Recently, fans were sent into frenzy when Ackles was spotted on the set of Arrowverse's upcoming crossover event "Elseworlds". Rumors of the "Supernatural" actor being set to take on the role of DC Comics' popular hero Batman was quickly running rampage on the internet, but now star Stephen Amell has taken to Twitter to set the record straight.

The "Arrow" actor wrote on his account, "Let me squash this rumor right now." He adds, "@JensenAckles was on set tonight because he's Grant Gustin's #2 fan (I'm #1) and not because he's playing The Batman."

Amell's tweet seemingly further noted that fans had to wait a little longer to wait for the Caped Crusader to arrive in Arrowverse. However, fans may expect to see the hero makes an appearance on upcoming "Batwoman", just like how Tyler Hoechlin's Superman was introduced during the second season of "Supergirl".

While "Elseworlds" is very unlike to feature Batman, Batwoman, played by Ruby Rose is set to make her grand entrance during the 3-night The CW's TV event before eventually debuting her standalone series.

Plot details of the annual crossover is currently unknown, but it will bring back Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl together to take down whatever danger lies ahead them. Previous set photo hinted at interesting plot though, as Amell and Gustin were spotted switching their superhero costumes. Amell was seen in The Flash's red suit, while Gustin was suited up in Green Arrow costume.

As to why they were switching roles, it remains to be seen. Popular belief suggests that "Elseworlds" will introduce an alternate univese in which Oliver is The Flash, and Barry is Green Arrow.

In the TV event, they will be joined by Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), a doctor at Arkham Asylum named Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davie), Nora Fries (Cassandra Jean Amell) and The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett).

This year's crossover is set to begin on Sunday, December 9 with "The Flash" at 8 P.M. It will later be followed by an "Arrow" episode on Monday, December 10 at 8 P.M. "Supergirl" will conclude on the following night at 8 P.M. on The CW.
