AceShowbiz - Joker is heavily related to Batman in the DC Universe, but this particular sighting on the set of "Joker" has raised eyebrows for potential moviegoers who have been keeping an update on the film. Recently, a Batmobile was spotted being driven to the filming location in Newark, NJ.
In a video posted online on October 15, the classic Batmobile was being transported on an open-air trailer. The Batmobile that was used for the filming of "Joker" looks similar to the original Batmobile which appeared on the 1960s TV show starring Adam West.
While DC characters can sometime crossover in another character's solo film, it seems unlikely that Batman will be featured in "Joker" since the movie is set at the time when Bruce Wayne's father Thomas Wayne is still alive, which means Batman hasn't existed. This raises a question as to why Batmobile was used on the "Joker" set.
In the upcoming movie, Joaquin Phoenix stars as the Batman villain whose real name is Arthur Fleck and is depicted as a failed stand-up comedian who goes insane and becomes a murdering psychopath. The origin movie is described as a gritty character study of the signature villain of Batman, and also a broader cautionary tale of a man disregarded by society who becomes the ultimate supervillain.
Recent set photos showed Phoenix with full Joker makeup being hauled away in a police car. The picture seems to confirm that the character will fully transform into a psychopathic criminal at some point in the movie.
Brett Cullen is cast as Thomas Wayne, with Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Robert De Niro, Shea Whigham, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais taking other roles. Todd Phillips serves as director and writes the script, in addition to producing the movie along with Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff.
The DC-Warner Bros. film is scheduled for an October 4, 2019 release in the United States.
