Also directing the crime drama, Eastwood stars as an eightysomething drug mule who hopes for a last chance at redemption after letting down his family.

AceShowbiz - Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper have reunited for "The Mule", which first trailer has been released for viewing pleasure. In his first acting gig since 2012's "Trouble with the Curve", the 88-year-old actor/director stars as Earl Stone, who runs drugs for a cartel.

The trailer centers on Earl, who laments his failure as a father and husband, while delivering drugs. "I was a terrible father and a terrible husband," he says in a voiceover. "Family's the most important thing. Don't do what I did."

He continues, "I put work in front of family. I thought it was more important to be somebody out there than the damn failure I was in my own home." As he faces a financial crisis, he takes the shady job while hoping for one last chance at redemption. "I didn't deserve forgiveness," he says. "This is the last one. So help me God." Unbeknown to him, this will put a DEA agent, played by Bradley Cooper, hot on his trail.

According to the official logline, Earl Stone is a man in his 80s who is broke, alone and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well-so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler.

But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him.

Helmed by Eastwood who previously directed Cooper in "American Sniper", the film marks the first time the veteran actor works on both sides of the camera since 2009's critically acclaimed "Gran Torino".

Written by Nick Schenk, the movie is scheduled for a U.S. release on December 14.
