The Roger Murtaugh of the FOX cop series suggests that the reason behind his departure is regarding his health.

AceShowbiz - FOX's "Lethal Weapon" seemingly is losing one of its main stars again. Damon Wayans, who plays Roger Murtaugh on the cop series, reveals in a new interview that he's planning to leave the show after 13-part season 3.

"I'm going to be quitting the show in December after we finish the initial 13," Wayans said to website Eurweb.com. "So I really don't know what they're planning, but that's what I'm planning."

The actor suggests that the reason behind his departure is regarding his health. "I'm a 58-year-old diabetic and I'm working 16-hour days." When asked if he's over it, Wayans replies, "I'm done. Like Murtaugh said, I'm too old for this." The interviewer seems to be thinking he's joking, but Wayans assures the interviewer that he's not joking about exiting the show.

Of his next plans, Wayan shared, "I'm going to return to the stage and try to find my smile again." He adds, "It's hard for me to play this loving, supportive father, husband, friend on TV, and be the guy in life that is telling everyone, 'I can't, I have to work.' "

Representatives for the actor, Warner Bros. Television and FOX Broadcasting decline to comment on the matter.

It arrives after the drama surrounding former actor Clayne Crawford, who was fired for multiple on-set altercations and friction with Wayans. Wayans previously posted a video of him getting injured while filming an episode which Crawford directed. They later got into a heated argument the next day with Crawford calling Wayans "p***y."

The Martin Riggs depictor issued an apology, saying that he's "incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention 'Lethal Weapon' is receiving because of these incidents." However, he was eventually let go by the producers.

"Lethal Weapon" returns for season 3 on September 25 on FOX.
