AceShowbiz - Despite being part of the original "Saturday Night Live", Chevy Chase isn't holding back in criticising the long-running NBC comedy show. The 74-year-old doesn't hesitate in blasting the show, which collected Outstanding Variety Sketch Series on Monday's 2018 Emmys.

"I'm amazed that Lorne [Michaels] has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldnt f***ing believe it," Chase revealed to the Washington Post. "That means a whole generation of s**theads laughs at the worst f***ing humor in the world."

He went on saying, "You know what I mean? How could you dare give that generation worse s**t than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts."

The current cast was not the only one that Chase criticized though, noting that the show went downhill after the first two years. "Why am I saying that? Because I was in it? I guess. That's a horrible thing to say. But certainly I never had more fun. I really loved it and enjoyed it. I didn't see the same fun thing happening to the cast the next year," he explained.

He doubled down his criticism by calling out famous vets that he doesn't think funny. He dubbed Will Ferrell not funny, adding that he didn't see "what all the folderol was about" when it comes to Tina Fey. However, he sang the praises for some of "SNL" alums including Kristen Wiig, Eddie Murphy, Dana Carvey, Gilda Radner and Dan Aykroyd.

Chase previously also slammed "SNL" during an episode of Netflix's "Norm Macdonald Has a Show". Talking about the show's catchprase, he said, "I mean it just gets so bad." He went on saying, "It seems like some guys are out there just to be the guy who says, 'Live from New York,' and then does it poorly. Anyway, that's not nice of me to say, but... f**k 'em."
