The songstress' team has released a statement explaining why she and her comedian fiance miss this year's event even though they are invited.

AceShowbiz - Hours prior to the 70th annual Emmy Awards, a leaked photo showed that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson were supposed to be attending the event. However, the engaged couple was noticeably missing from the award-giving show as her team said in a statement to PEOPLE that Ariana would like to take some times away from the limelight.

"Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight. Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York," her team stated. "Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and med."

Her team went on saying that the "No Tears Left to Cry" singer would be staying "close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding."

Her decision was understandable as she continues to cope with anxiety and PTSD after the tragic terrorist attack at her Manchester show last year. In addition, her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller unexpectedly died of a suspected drug overdose earlier this month. Since that, she has been keeping a very low profile, but broke her silence on his death last week.

Along with a video of her and the "Self Care" rapper enjoying a dinner date, she wrote, "I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will. I can't believe you aren't here anymore." She continued, "I'm so sorry I couldn't fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you're okay now. Rest."

Ariana recently shared another tribute by posting a couple of screengrabs of her Apple Music interface. It showed that she was listening to his "Swimming" tracks "Ladders" and "Dunno", the latter of which was speculated to be about her.
