Rumor has it, the 'Game of Thrones' star was being considered for the role of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' amid speculation that Ben Affleck will hang up Batman's cowl.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. has apparently been prepared should Ben Affleck refuse to play Batman again. Words are the studio has been eying several actors to take over the role in the upcoming solo movie, which has Matt Reeves attached at the helm.

According to Revenge of the Fans, WB was at one point considering Kit Harington to assume the mantle from the "Gone Girl" actor. The report says that the studio requested digital mock-ups of some actors to see how they would like as the Caped Crusader, and one of them was of the "Game of Thrones" star.

It's unclear if there was further talk about Harington playing Batman, but it's possible that the 31-year-old British actor wasn't even aware that he was being considered for the role. The site additionally notes that Harington is 5'8" tall, which puts him in the same build range as Jake Gyllenhaal and Jack Huston, who were previously linked to the Batman movie, too.

As of now, Affleck's involvement in "The Batman" is uncertain. He penned a draft of the script and was originally attached to direct, before dropping out as director of the movie. Reeves later stepped in and has been rewriting the script for months.

Reeves recently shared an update about the project, "I'm just excited to be focused on a tale that's defying for him (Batman) and is very personal to him, but at the same time, we're really-obviously we're not doing any origin tales or anything like that-but definitely Batman, emotional, and him being the world's greatest detective."

The "War for the Planet of the Apes" director also said last month that they're eying a spring or summer start date for the solo Batman movie. "What we've talked about is hopefully in the spring or early summer (of 2019), something like that," Reeves said at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour.
