AceShowbiz - BBC has announced the official date for season 11 of "Doctor Who". The new season of the long-running sci-fi series is set to premiere on Sunday, October 7. The announcement is made through a brief video posted on the show's official Twitter account.
"It's About Time… #DoctorWho. Release date varies by country. Check local listings," the account writes in the caption. The network's U.S. premiere will start at the same time as the U.K. debut on-air on Sunday.

Season 11, which is the first season to feature a female Doctor, marks a big shift as it's moving from its Saturday block to Sunday nights. "New Doctor, new home!" says showrunner Chris Chibnall, in a statement.
"Jodie Whittaker's Doctor is about to burst into Sunday nights -- and make the end of the weekend so much more exciting. Get everybody’s homework done, sort out your Monday clothes, then grab some special Sunday night popcorn, and settle down with all of the family for Sunday night adventures across space and time. (Also, move the sofa away from the wall so parents can hide behind it during the scary bits)," he continues. "The Thirteenth Doctor is falling from the sky and it's going to be a blast."
Starring Jodie Whittaker, the new season will kick off with a premiere episode that is titled "The Woman Who Fell to Earth", which is written and directed by Chibnall. It is an obvious reference to David Bowie's 1976 movie "The Man Who Fell to Earth".
In addition to Whittaker, Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole and Bradley Walsh will star in the new season. The three will be playing the Thirteenth Doctor's new companions, Yasmin, Ryan and Graham.
