'That's a huge part of what helps us keep our communication going and our relationship,' the 'Fear of the Walking Dead' star says.

AceShowbiz - Actress Jenna Elfman credits the communication courses she's undergone from the Church of Scientology for the success of her 23-year marriage.

The "Fear the Walking Dead" star and her actor husband Bodhi Elfman celebrated their latest wedding anniversary in February, and she insists the teachings of the controversial religion have been key to avoiding divorce.

"I've been a Scientologist for 28 years and that's a huge part of what helps us keep our communication going and our relationship," the mother-of-two explained on PeopleTV's Chatter show.

"We've never cheated on each other, we've never broken up. We hang in there, raising children, maintaining my sanity in a crazy world. Our world is crazy, it's getting crazier, and Hollywood is the ne plus ultra (most extreme) of crazy."

Elfman also used the opportunity to defend Scientology from the harsh criticism it regularly receives, insisting people shouldn't believe everything they read online - because the practices have worked wonders for her and her loved ones.

"I think that anything that works tends to get attacked," she said. "It's been so workable for me.

"I use it every single day of my life and it keeps me energised and vivacious and happy... I think people should just check it out for themselves and not believe everything they hear or read on the Internet."

Elfman isn't the only celebrity member of the church - Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Elisabeth Moss are also devout Scientologists, while Jennifer Lopez's best pal, Leah Remini, has become one of the most outspoken critics of the religion after famously cutting ties in 2013. The actress also fronts hard-hitting TV docu-series "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath", in which she opens up about the traditions and practices of the controversial church and exposes the dark underbelly of Scientology while interviewing other former members.
