The 'Virgin' star was sentenced to life in prison for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend Kendra Beebe in September 2010.

AceShowbiz - Actor Shelley Malil has been granted parole.

The 40-year-old Virgin star was found guilty of viciously stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, in September, 2010 and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the attempted murder.

Earlier this year, parole board members recommended Malil be released and on Tuesday, August 28, it was granted. According to The San Diego Tribune, the former actor will be released in the next couple weeks but he'll remain on supervised parole for five years.

Following the ruling, Malil's victim Beebe expressed her shock over the parole board's decision.

"Today, these men had a chance to take real action showing that we, as a society, value women and will protect them...," she said. "Because of their inaction, I will continue to live in fear."
