AceShowbiz - Rapper Tekashi69 is trying to prevent recordings of his conversations with police from getting an airing during his choking court case.

According to The Blast, the rainbow-haired hip-hop star filed documents in Houston, Texas, claiming anything he told officers on tape may have been said under duress. He is facing trial for allegedly choking a 16-year-old boy at the city's Galleria Mall in January.

In the filing, the musician, real name Daniel Hernandez, states that he may have been recorded after his arrest - and is now claiming any statement he made was "involuntary coerced or enticed" and so should be inadmissible in public court.

The "FEFE" rapper, 22, who also goes by the name 6ix9ine, also claims he mistakenly waived his right to have a lawyer present while being interrogated. This week (end August 26) Tekashi has been in court negotiating with prosecutors in a bid to have the case dropped before it reaches a full jury trial. He is also trying to bar the prosecution from raising prior arrests and convictions from his troubled past with members of the jury.

The star is currently facing a jail term after breaching the terms of an agreement he made in 2015 when pleading guilty to one count of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance. The conviction relates to a viral video in which a 13-year-old girl was seen engaging in a sex act while Tekashi stood behind her. He maintains he had no idea the girl featured in the footage was a minor.

Under the terms of his deal he agreed not to commit another offence for two years so that he wouldn't face jail time or have to register as a sex offender. He now faces up to three years in prison.

Tekashi was also arrested in May for driving without a licence, assaulting a police officer and obstructing governmental administration.
