The 'Havana' hitmaker also retweets an old post from 2012 in which she expressed her dreams to be invited to the ceremony.

AceShowbiz - Camila Cabello celebrated her victory at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night, August 20 by sharing a 2012 tweet about her hopes to attend the show one day.

The Havana hitmaker was the big winner at the New York prizegiving, taking home the top prizes, Video and Artist of the Year.

After the show, she celebrated her success by sharing a tweet she wrote in 2012 in which she told her followers about her dreams to be invited to the ceremony in the future.

"#VMA2012 I wanna be there SOOOOOOO bad you dont understand #someday," she wrote in the original tweet.

Camila retweeted the message and wrote to her younger self, "YOURE NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS SMOL (small) CAMILA BUT: IN 2018 MADONNA IS GOING TO GIVE YOU AN AWARD FOR VIDEO OF THE YEAR AND YOUR ACNE WILL CLEAR (sic)."

Madonna presented the Video of the Year prize to the 21-year-old, who bowed down to her as she came onstage to collect her award at Radio City Music Hall.

"My hands are literally shaking. I'm never going to forget this moment. Madonna, I love you so much," she gushed. "You've inspired me so much. I love you, seriously. This moment is so surreal.

"I want to thank my family, who inspired this music video, I want to thank my fans. I dedicate this to Madonna."

The Never Be The Same star, who brought her mum Sinuhe as her date, later wrote on Twitter, "the best night ever. i love you guys so much. Goodnight".

The day before the show, Camila announced to fans that she was hosting an after-party and she would select 15 of them, who had tweeted with the hashtag #milasafterparty, to attend by picking names out of a bowl.

After the ceremony, she shared videos on her Instagram Stories of her and the lucky winners enjoying food and drinks at the party.
