If convicted, Miller may face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

AceShowbiz - Mac Miller has officially been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following his car accident earlier this year.

The 26-year-old rapper was arrested in May after he lost control of his white Mercedes-Benz G Class and crashed it into a power pole in San Fernando Valley, California. Miller, real name Malcolm McCormick, initially fled the scene on foot with his two passengers but was later arrested at his Los Angeles home and charged with driving under the influence and hit and run after police ran his plates and located his address.

According to TMZ, the L.A. City Attorney's Office has now officially slapped Miller with two counts of DUI - one for driving under the influence and another for driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or higher, after the Self Care rapper was found with a BAC of 0.15 at the point of his arrest, some time after the crash took place.

He wasn't indicted for the original charge of hit and run.

If convicted, Miller faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 (£780) fine, however, considering it's his first offence, editors at TMZ believe the rapper could get off with probation, community service and a license suspension.

Miller's accident came shortly after his split from popstar Ariana Grande, who is now engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson.
