The father of the Duchess of Sussex claims his daughter, Meghan, and her then-husband-to-be never sent him an official invite.

AceShowbiz - The Duchess of Sussex's father, Thomas Markle, didn't get an invite to the royal wedding in May.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Markle claims his daughter, Meghan, and her then-husband-to-be never sent him an official invite.

As the newlyweds prepare for an upcoming royal tour, the former actress' outspoken father told the publication, "I never got a wedding invitation. At first I thought, 'That's OK, because I'm part of the wedding', but I would have loved to have had an invitation to put in a frame.

"I asked Meghan to send invitations to all my family. I told her they wouldn't be able to come because they would never be able to afford the flight but that it would be a nice gesture on her part. Of course that didn't happen."

Markle, who actually missed the wedding because he was undergoing heart surgery in the U.S., admits he was further distressed when he discovered representatives from the Los Angeles British consulate presented Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, with an official engagement scroll from The Queen.

"No one came to my door in Mexico," Thomas said. "I would have liked the engagement announcement, too."

Markle also revealed his daughter told him there would be "no room" for him to speak at the engagement bash.

"Like any father I wanted to say a few words," he added. "I was going to thank the royal family for welcoming my beautiful daughter into their family. But it was a speech that I was never going to be allowed to give. That hurt."
