Lisa says recording 'Where No One Stands Alone', the title track from a new compilation album, makes her feel connected to her late father Elvis Presley.

AceShowbiz - Lisa Marie Presley broke down in tears while recording a new duet with her late dad, because the project made her feel connected to him.

The two singers have been brought together on Where No One Stands Alone, the title track from a new compilation album, inspired by the late rock and roll legend's love of gospel music.

Lisa was just nine years old when Elvis died in 1977, and she decided to help produce the new release because she has fond memories of her dad crooning the tunes during her youth.

"He just loved it," she smiled during a rare TV interview on breakfast show Today. "He would break out into gospel music whenever and wherever he was, at any time. It's what moved him."

"This particular record and this (title) song absolutely does that for me (reminds her of happier times) and brings me closer," she continued. "It grounded me in the middle of the never ending tidal wave (of grief) so it kinda came down and grabbed at me, really."

Lisa knew working on the album would be an emotional process, but she wasn't quite prepared for the tears she would shed as she laid down her vocals for the posthumous collaboration, a song about battling feelings of loneliness.

"I was overwhelmed when I was singing it because I was reading the lyrics, and I was just like, 'Oh my God'," she recalled. "'I don't know why this is happening right now, but I'm gonna get with it.'"

Producer Joel Weinshanker added, "I don't think anyone who knows Lisa has ever seen her lose her composure, and every single person in the booth when we were recording (Where No One Stands Alone) was crying, as was she."

The lyrics were particularly poignant for Lisa as she continues to battle her estranged husband Michael Lockwood over their divorce and custody of their twin daughters, amid an alleged financial crisis, and she admits she needs her dad's guidance more than ever.

"I think I already said, 'Help me! God help me!'," she shared. "I think I would just want to know he was there and it would be pretty much: 'I could use your help right about now'."

Lisa separated from Lockwood in 2016, after 10 years of marriage, and as part of the proceedings, she recently confessed she was $16 million (£12.5 million) in debt.

She is also currently locked in a bitter lawsuit with her former manager, Barry Siegel, who she has accused of mismanaging her $100 million (£78.3 million) fortune.
