GirlCodeLA is a startup company that is helping female computer coders.

AceShowbiz - Rapper YG has donated $150,000 (£115,200) to bosses at a startup company helping female computer coders.

The Who Do You Love? hitmaker handed over the cheque to GirlCodeLA officials on Wednesday, August 01, explaining he wanted to help give women a better advantage to pursue their science and technology career goals.

"Gender bias plays a role in the amount of exposure students receive in regards to technology and coding," reads a statement he issued to Billboard. "This leads to influence future decisions within their field, creating smaller opportunities for diversity.

"With my donation, I hope they'll be able to expand their reach of future female coders and programmers. I want to make sure I'm doing my part, I got a daughter and I respect the G Code (sic)."

YG, real name Keenon Jackson, also gave away Beats By Dre headphones during a mentoring event for the organisation.
