'I'm #boycottingteenchoice besides it being rigged it’s just f**ked up,' the former Disney star blasts the award-giving event.

AceShowbiz - Bella Thorne is boycotting the upcoming Teen Choice Awards - because the ceremony is "gross".

The 20-year-old actress and singer took to Twitter on Tuesday, July 24 to let her young fans know she would be a no-show at the event.

"Teen choice is gross," she wrote. "The fact we are even voting against each other is... it f**ks w (with) kids heads like a beauty competition... I’m #boycottingteenchoice besides it being rigged it’s just f**ked up".

She added: "Vote for the hottest is so gross How about smartest? Or a charity category? How about we hype people up for doing good things not being hot".

Bella is a past Teen Choice Award winner, picking up the Choice Movie Villain prize for her role in The Duff in 2015, and she is nominated in the Choice TV Actress: Drama category for a second successive year for her role in the recently cancelled Famous in Love.

The 2018 Teen Choice Awards will be held in Los Angeles on 12 August.
