'I will of course always be there for Heather and especially Ava,' the former Bon Jovi member says in an interview.

AceShowbiz - Former Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora has come out in support of ex-wife Heather Locklear as she battles legal and alleged addiction issues.

Locklear was admitted to a treatment facility last month following a reported overdose a day after she was arrested for reportedly kicking an officer when police responded to a domestic disturbance at her home.

Now Sambora, who shares 20-year-old daughter with the Melrose Place star, publicly shared a statement of support for his ex.

"I will of course always be there for Heather and especially Ava," he told The Daily Mail. "I am very proud of my daughter for her composure and strength during this difficult time".

Sambora and Locklear were married in 1994 and finalised their divorce in 2007.

The rocker's statement comes a day after Locklear's ex-boyfriend David Spade shared his support for the actress.

"I mean, I love her," Spade told Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show, Radio Andy, on Wednesday, July 18. "She was nice to go out with me. I will always be indebted to her because she was so nice, so fun, and no apologies, went out with me, didn't care, even though I’m sure she took some grief".
