AceShowbiz - The Mayor of Philadelphia has reached out to Jay-Z in a bid to clear up a "misunderstanding" about the future of the rapper's Made in America festival.

The hip hop icon wrote an op-ed piece for the Philadelphia Inquirer, which was published on Wednesday, July 18, and slammed Jim Kenney for reportedly pulling the plug on his annual music event, which he launched in 2012.

He claimed the Mayor recently revealed the weekend festival would not be held on the Benjamin Franklin Freeway in the city after this year.

"We are disappointed that the Mayor of the City of Philadelphia would evict us from the heart of the city, through a media outlet, without a sit-down meeting, notice, dialogue or proper communication," the rap star wrote. "It signifies zero appreciation for what Made In America has built alongside the phenomenal citizens of this city".

But a representative for Kenney insists it's all a big misunderstanding.

"The City of Philadelphia supports the Made in America festival and is greatly appreciative of all that it has done for Philadelphia," the rep tells Billboard. "We are committed to its continued success and thank them for their partnership.

"We hope to be able to resolve what has been an unfortunate misunderstanding".

City officials are now reportedly working with Jay-Z's Roc Nation representatives and Live Nation promoters to resolve the issue.

This year's festival will take place on 1 and 2 September, and the event features former couple Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill, Post Malone, and Diplo.
