AceShowbiz - One day after Ariana Grande released "God Is a Woman", the Nickelodeon alum further treated her fans with a music video for the song. Directed by Dave Meyers, the empowering visuals was premiered on Friday, July 13.
Ariana serves a series of serious look in the music video, dancing in the midst of a nebula and sitting on Earth while controlling the elements from above. Another scene finds the petite singer reclining in a pool of milky water naked. The most notable part in the clip might be the scene where Madonna portraying the voice of God and reciting Samuel L. Jackson's lines in 1994's "Pulp Fiction".
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you," the pop diva says, before Ariana breaking the glass ceiling with a hammer.
Following the release of the visuals, Ariana tweeted a powerful accompanying statement. "To my fellow goddesses who work their a**es off every day to 'break the glass ceiling,' this is for you," she wrote on the micro-blogging site. "I respect u and am endlessly inspired by u. Pls continue to f**k it up, to be yourself unapologetically & always know how celebrated u are. Hope this can be ya anthem."
"God Is a Woman" is the second single off "Sweetener", following "No Tears Left to Cry". Ariana previously explained the meaning behind the song, saying that it's about "sexual female empowerment and how women are literally everything and the universe is inside of us." The song is also her, her fiance Pete Davidson and her grandmother's favorite song off the forthcoming effort.
"Sweetener" is expected to be released on August 17 via Republic Records. It features guest appearances from Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj and Pharrell Williams.
