Selena, who signed up as a longterm spokesperson and designer for Puma last year (17), hopes to encourage women to be powerful and independent with the new Amp XT campaign, and bosses at the brand believe she is the perfect role model for female empowerment.

"The Amp XT is made for women who slay doubts and defy the status quo," a Puma representative says in a press release. "And of course, there’s no one better to represent the shoe than PUMA's kick-a** ambassador, Selena Gomez. She is the epitome of a strong woman, defying the standard and proving people wrong by proving herself right."

The new Amp XT sneaker comes in four colours - black, white, green and pink - and retails for $80 (£60).

Selena has been making several major fashion moves in recent years - the Come and Get It singer also designed an accessories line for luxury bag brand Coach last year (17).

Speaking about her success in fashion, the Spring Breakers star previously told British Vogue she hasn't been trying too hard to make it in the rag trade, insisting inspiration has just come naturally to her.

"There is no stupid question, and there are no stupid ideas," she said. "I think even the way something feels can inspire you, a song could inspire you to create something. Finding those moments for you to connect to your work. And also, just keep your eyes on your work, it is easy to compare yourself but it's important to stay true to what matters (to your work)."
