After the president calls out the funnyman for regretting their TV interview back in September 2016, the talk show host pledges to make a donation to an immigration services group in Trump's name.

AceShowbiz - Talk show host Jimmy Fallon has pledged to make a donation to an immigration services group in Donald Trump's name, after the U.S. President mocked him on Twitter.

The American leader famously appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in September 2016, two months before he was elected into office, and in a recent podcast with The Hollywood Reporter, the television host expressed his regret at playfully ruffling Trump's hair during the interview - a move he was highly criticised for.

The politician subsequently took to Twitter in the wake of Fallon's comments, and mocked the 43-year-old's decision to apologise.

"@jimmyfallon is now whimpering to all that he did the famous 'hair show' with me (where he seriously messed up my hair), & that he would have now done it differently because it is said to have 'humanized' me-he is taking heat," the 72-year-old wrote. "He called & said 'monster ratings.' Be a man Jimmy!"

Following Trump's message, Fallon said he would be making a donation to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), in protest against the world leader's controversial policy which has separated thousands of immigrant children from their parents at the U.S. Mexico border.

"In honor of the President's tweet I'll be making a donation to RAICES in his name," the chat show presenter quipped.

Speaking of the hair ruffling incident, Fallon recalled that the resulting backlash was "definitely a down time" in his life.

"I did not do it to 'normalise' him or to say I believe in his political beliefs or any of that stuff," he insisted during the interview last week (end June 24). "(It) just got bigger and out of control. I saw other comedians from other shows making fun of me on Twitter and I go, 'OK, now I'm just gonna get off'... I'm sorry if I made anyone mad. And, looking back, I would do it differently."
