AceShowbiz - "Timeless" has apparently ran out of time. NBC has decided to pull the plug on the time-travel series after 2 seasons, the network announced on Friday, June 22.
But don't be too sad, "Timeless" fans. The series may not be returning for a third season, but it seems like the network is considering a two-hour movie for the series finale. Creator Eric Kripke shares the news on his Twitter account.
"Gutted by this, guys, I know you are too. Behind the scenes, Sony has been trying hard to set it up elsewhere, but no luck so far. I think this 2 hour movie is our best shot. We're ready to make it if @nbc really wants it. Let 'em know how you feel. #clockblockers," he writes.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures TV seemingly addresses the cancellation on its Twitter account. The account posts two emojis, a crying face emoji and a broken heart emoji, adding, "#Clockblockers, we're with you," in a separate tweet.

The official account of "Timeless" also talks about the bad news. "Some conversations have taken place over the past couple weeks, but as of now there is no good news to report. #EndTimelessRight," it responds to a fan who asks whether another network may pick the series up.

The beloved series barely made it to season 2 after being saved from cancellation following its freshman run. To save the series, which starred Abigail Spencer and Matt Lanter, producers Sony gave up 50 percent of the show's ownership stake to NBC's Universal Television.
In its second season, "Timeless" averaged a 1.2 in the key adults 18-49 demo and pulled in nearly 5 million total viewers with seven days of delayed viewing.
"We are hopeful and yet realistic as we have a lot of shows," NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said on May 13 ahead of the show's season 2 finale. "We are going to take a look at ['Timeless' and 'Champions'] after their run and hopefully make a quick decision on them."
