The 23-year-old songstress and the Fifth Harmony member play Luna and Rosa respectively in the clip, preparing for a big match that leads them being bloodied up and bruised.

AceShowbiz - Halsey's star-crossed romance saga continues. The 23-year-old songstress unveiled a music video for track "Strangers" on Wednesday, June 20. Lauren Jauregui, who is featured on the song, also stars in the visuals alongside Halsey.

In the clip, Halsey and Lauren appear as Luna and Rosa respectively. From warring families, they prepare for a big match that leads to them being bloodied up and bruised. "Said that we're not lovers, we're just strangers/ With the same damn hunger," they sing while hitting each other. "To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all."

Sporting blue braid hairstyle, Luna reigns victorious in the end, raising her fist up above her mug, bloodied face. At the end of the music video, Luna meets Solis, a member of Rosa's family whom Luna is torn apart from in "Now or Never" music video. The two exchange necklace before the screen fades to black.

Unfortunately, the music video receives backlash as some people accuse her of portraying a straight couple in a video for an explicitly queer song. However, Halsey has the perfect response to silence the critics. "The album, and every video, is one continuous gender flipped Romeo and Juliet story! Luna is Romeo and Solis is Juliet. Rosaline (Rosa) is the woman Romeo is in love with before Juliet but he cannot have her!" the singer explains in a tweet.

"Strangers" is included on Halsey's latest album "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom". Produced by Greg Kurstin, the song is the first song she wrote openly using female pronouns rather than her gender-neutral pronouns in previous songs. She also stated that she song is an LGBTQ love song. "In 'Strangers', two women sing to each other (Romeo and Juliet's perspective) and express their feelings during their first meeting at a house party at her house," she said in an interview.
