The 'Shape of You' hitmaker was reported to have signed a bizarre deal with Heinz after proclaiming his love for the sauce.

AceShowbiz - Ed Sheeran has denied he is being lined up to appear on bottles of tomato ketchup.

According to British newspaper the Daily Mirror, the Shape of You hitmaker was reported to have signed a bizarre deal with Heinz after proclaiming his love for the sauce which was launched by the company in the U.K. back in 1886.

He is said to be so obsessed with the ketchup that he will not go anywhere without one of his crew carrying a bottle, and said that if he was Prime Minister he would make ketchup compulsory "in all places with chips".

However the 27-year-old, who even has a tattoo of the iconic red bottle on his left bicep, was forced to deny the rumours.

"This isn't true but I wish it was. Stuart (Camp, his manager) doesn't," he joked in a post on his Instagram Story on Saturday, June 09.

A source from the firm told the newspaper that Heinz has been following Ed's comments about tomato ketchup closely, and are keen to recruit the singer to promote their product.

"Heinz are really hoping this will happen. Ed is loud and proud about his love of ketchup. Anyone who gets a tattoo in tribute to tomato sauce must really love dousing it on their food," they added.

The pop superstar is currently on a 19-date UK tour, and is set to perform for the third night in a row in Newcastle on Sunday, June 10. On Thursday, June 14, he will kick off a four-night stint at Wembley Stadium in London before heading to Europe on 28 June. He begins the U.S. leg of his tour at the Rose Bowl in California on 18 August, finally wrapping up in Atlanta on 10 November.
