Jamil claims that Hirsh once strangled her friend back in 2015.

AceShowbiz - "The Good Place" actress Jameela Jamil has blasted Quentin Tarantino for casting Emile Hirsch in his new film after he assaulted her friend in 2015.

"Into the Wild" star Hirsch pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour assault charge and was sentenced to 15 days in jail for attacking Paramount Pictures executive Daniele Bernfeld at an afterparty in Utah. Emile entered rehab after the incident and apologised publicly.

However, after hearing that Emile will play late hairstylist Jay Sebring in Tarantino's forthcoming movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", Jameela took to social media to slam the filmmaker.

"Emile Hirsch strangled my tiny female best friend until she blacked out at a party in front of dozens of witnesses at Sundance Film Festival (and was convicted) but Tarantino just cast him in a movie," she writes. "INTENSE case of rich white male privelege (sic)?"

"Left her with three years of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and never paid for her treatment, and still hasn't apologized to her," she continues, claiming the actor didn't reach out directly to her friend.

"Emile Hirsch has not apologized for this heinous crime, but is re-joining Hollywood's elite," she concludes. "Slow clap to everyone involved in this movie. So many other actors who haven't attacked women to choose from..."

Tarantino and Hirsch have yet to respond to her outburst, but in 2016, the actor shared his horror at his own behaviour during the incident, and explained it gave him the opportunity to confront other issues in his life.

"I'm still just so sorry for what happened and still just shocked even that it happened," he told Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. "(I'm) also, grateful in a way that, you know, it gave me an opportunity to make my life a lot better.

"I went to rehab. I was able to really clean that side of myself up. Just discovering... problems with alcohol and bingeing on alcohol and other drugs. These are problems that I was able to see a lot of people face, and maybe I didn't quite realise that before or identify that in that way."
