'This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time,' a representative for the couple says in response to the divorce rumors.

AceShowbiz - Representatives of David and Victoria Beckham have called rumours the couple is set to divorce "fake social media news".

Speculation the couple were set to announce a split led to two bookmakers deciding to suspend betting on their marriage coming to an end. Swiftly responding to the rumours, a spokesperson for the couple denied a divorce announcement was pending - and moved to shut down the gossip.

"There is no statement due or divorce," their rep told the Daily Mirror. "This is just fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time. There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news."

Executives at bookies Paddy Power decided to refuse bets on a potential split, as did rivals William Hill.

A spokesperson for the latter company told WENN in a statement: "The rumour mill has gone mad and we think there is probably something in this."

Just hours before the bookmakers' announcements Victoria posted a message of love to David on Instagram. She captioned an image of herself with their daughter Harper: "Morning cuddles x So much love (praying emoji) We love and miss u @davidbeckham."

David has been away from home attending the G-EXPO Global Football Summit in China - and has reportedly travelled on to Miami, Florida - where he is founding a Major League Soccer team.

The couple were recently seen attending last month's royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex together - and are set to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary in July.

Victoria and David met at a charity soccer match in 1997 and announced their engagement the following year. They married in Ireland at a star-studded wedding in a castle in 1999. As well as daughter Harper, six, they have three sons, Brooklyn, 19 Romeo, 15, and Cruz, 13.
