The 'The Boys in the Band' actor 'is expected to return to the show as soon as possible this week.'

AceShowbiz - Actor Jim Parsons has been forced to withdraw from a string of performances of Broadway play "The Boys in the Band" after suffering a fractured foot onstage. "The Big Bang Theory" star tripped during the encore at Saturday's, May 12 matinee and ended up limping off the platform, prompting show officials to cancel that evening's production.

The show resumed on Monday, May 14 with Matt McGrath, Parsons' stand-in, taking his place, and now it's been revealed the 45-year-old is nursing a foot fracture.

"Jim Parsons was injured at the Saturday matinee and sustained a fracture in his foot," Broadway representatives told Vulture. "He's working with his doctor to ensure a quick recovery and is expected to return to the show as soon as possible this week."

His co-star Andrew Rannells also assured fans Parsons would soon be back on his feet.

"He'll be back with us very soon," Andrew told breakfast show Today. "We're just sending him good vibes and will be happy to have him back."

Parsons stars alongside Rannells, Zachary Quinto, and Matthew Bomer, among others, in the 50th anniversary revival of the 1968 Mart Crowley play, which revolves around a gay man's birthday party.
