AceShowbiz - Following the massive success of "Black Panther", director Ryan Coogler is all ready to continue the legacy. As for what the next project may be, he suggests in a new interview that he finds one particular fan idea interesting.

During a nearly two-hour talk at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday afternoon, May 10. Coogler appeared to be giving his blessing to a "Black Panther" spin-off centering on the women of Wakanda, much to fans' liking.

"Oh man. That would be amazing if the opportunity came up," he said. "They did it in the comic-book version."

The "Black Panther" comic book relaunch from Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreze was released in 2016. It focused on the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's team of elite female fighters. Roxane Gay, Yona Harvey, Alitha E. Martinez, and Afua Richardson Later, the World of Wakanda series that focused on Ayo and Aneka came out. It saw two women falling in love while training to become Dora.

In addition, writer Nnedi Okorafor and artist Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque are planning for the release of their latest comic titled "Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man". It is a team-up comic featuring the Dora and Marvel's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.

Back to the interview, Coogler also talked about the importance of the women of Wakanda. "I think you could argue they are more important," he shared. "There's a whole section of the film where T'Challa is out of the movie and you're just following the women. That's one of my favorite parts of the movie when I watched it, and I didn't expect that. These actresses could easily carry their own movie."

Marvel president Kevin Feige previously also added fuel to the rumors of a possible all-female Avengers movie. However, Danai Gurira, who is praised for her portrayal of Okoye in "Black Panther", denied the rumors though didn't actually dismiss that it would happen in the future.

"I think it is a rumor, but the cool thing is that it’s showing there’s this hunger for that type of thing," she told Ellen DeGeneres. "I know that the awesome Brie Larson is filming 'Captain Marvel' as we speak, so these things are starting to happen, and I think it's really exciting because it shows that yeah, of course, it's time we start seeing the perspective of the story come exclusively from women."
