Jacob Tremblay plays a young boy who accidentally unleashes the titular alien on Earth.

AceShowbiz - Predator is back, more than 30 years since Arnold Schwarzenegger helped launch the franchise by starring in 1987's "Predator". Set between "Predator 2" (1990) and the last installment "Predators" (2010) directed by Nimrod Antal, "The Predator" is from director Shane Black who also co-wrote the script with Fred Dekker.

Now 20th Century Fox has offered a sneak peek at the new movie by releasing the first trailer that shows how the titular alien returns to planet Earth. Jacob Tremblay plays Rory McKenna, a young boy who unboxes a package containing a miniature version of the alien spaceship. He thinks it's a toy and plays with it, unknowingly bringing it back to Earth.

The trailer then cuts to a scene in an open field where a group of mercenaries approaches the spaceship, but then something explodes. Boyd Holbrook's Quinn McKenna, Rory's father who is also part of the mercenaries, is later seen being questioned about what he and his group saw during their mission.

Meanwhile, Olivia Munn's Casey Bracket, a science teacher who joins the crew's mission, finds out about the alien's evolution. "I think they're attempting hybridization, they're upgrading on every planet they visit," she says as she works in a science lab.

From there, the plot thickens, with the Predator attacking humans and soldiers running away and trying to protect themselves in gun-totting action scenes. Casey is seen in one scene protecting Rory behind her, while laser pointers are targeting her chest. Meanwhile, Quinn comes face-to-face with the titular alien.

According to the official logline, "from the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race."

Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane and Yvonne Strahovski are also starring in the reboot. John Davis, Joel Silver and Lawrence Gordon, who produced the original, return to produce the new installment.

"The Predator" is set to be released in U.S. theaters on September 14.
