AceShowbiz - R. Kelly has responded to the growing calls for a boycott of his music due to sexual misconduct allegations. Editors at TMZ claim they have spoken to Kelly about the #MuteRKelly campaign led by stars involved in the Time's Up movement - who have asked music industry executives to cut all commercial ties with him.

Last year, the R&B star was accused by two sets of parents of "brainwashing" their daughters into sexually coercive relationships - allegations that have been backed up by several of his former associates.

The singer reportedly told TMZ the campaign was "misinformed," and blamed the parents of one woman involved with him, Joycelyn Savage, for spreading lies after he refused to partner with them in business. They report he has said Joycelyn's father Timothy tried to push him into furthering Joycelyn and other relatives' singing careers - and then demanded money and fabricated claims he had involved young women in a "sex cult".

According to TMZ, the "I Believe I Can Fly" musician, 51, also alleges Joycelyn's mother Jonjelyn holds a grudge because he refused to dress his backing dancers in clothes from a fledgling boutique she ran, and says she visited his home several times.

On Tuesday, May 08, two of Kelly's ex-girlfriends, Asante McGee and Kitti Jones, appeared alongside the Savages on U.S. news show "Today" and accused him of controlling their lives during relationships.

Jones said that she had to ask his permission to go to the restroom, and that he controlled her phone calls. In a previous BBC documentary she alleged that the singer had told her he had groomed a 14-year-old girl to be his "sex pet."

The accusations against Kelly, who was acquitted of child pornography in 2008, are to be explored in a new documentary series and film commissioned by bosses at America's Lifetime network.
