Ryan Reynolds reveals that he and co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick imagined Deadpool as a father in earlier draft of the upcoming sequel.

AceShowbiz - Deadpool isn't ready for fatherhood, according to Ryan Reynolds. The actor, who first portrayed the Merc With a Mouth in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", reveals in a new interview with EW for a cover story of its new issue that original script of "Deadpool 2" had the titular anti-hero as a dad.
"The genesis of it was 'What if Deadpool had a child?' Like, what if we started five years later and what would that be like?" Reynolds explains. But he and co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick quickly agreed that it wouldn't work.
He adds, "By page 1.5, it was totally untenable. We were just like, 'Nope. Nope. No, no, no. This is never, ever going to work.' We went back to the drawing board and kind of reworked it in a way about wanting to have a child, which is something that so many people I know experience on a daily basis - wanting to have a child but can't."
Though the movie is full of profanity-laden jokes and R-rated action scenes, Reynolds insists the "Deadpool" sequel is a family movie as its core. "The first movie is a love story masquerading as a comic-book movie, and this one is kind of a family film masquerading as a comic-book film again," he claims.
Reynolds returns as Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool in the upcoming movie, which is slated to hit U.S. theaters on May 18. The plot centers on the Merc With the Mouth who tries to protect a young mutant, played by Julian Dennison, from the time-traveling mercenary Cable, played by Josh Brolin.
His quest leads to the formation of X-Force, which consists of Zazie Beetz's Neena Thurman / Domino, Briana Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Jack Kesy's Black Tom Cassidy, Stefan Kapicic's Colossus, Terry Crews' Bedlam, Lewis Tan's Shatterstar, Bill Skarsgard's Zeitgeist and Rob Delaney's Peter. Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni will reprise their roles as Blind Al and taxi driver Dopinder, respectively. Morena Baccarin also returns as Wade's fiancee Vanessa, while T.J. Miller is back as Wade's best friend Weasel.
To hype up the movie release, 20th Century Fox has released a new poster which pokes fun at Wolverine's death in 2017's "Logan". It brings together the key characters with a tagline "From the studio that killed Wolverine" written on it.
