AceShowbiz - A man accused of fatally stabbing Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter is facing 25 years in prison after he was convicted of manslaughter. Lamar Davenport was arrested and charged over the death of Edena Hines, 33, in August, 2015 after she succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal knife attack outside her New York City home.

Davenport pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, with his lawyer arguing he had been high on mind-altering drug Phencyclidine (PCP) when he stabbed Hines 25 times. He was acquitted of the crime in court on Monday, May 7, although he was convicted on the lesser charge of manslaughter. He is due to be sentenced on May 29, reports the New York Post.

Hines, an aspiring actress who accompanied Freeman to the 2005 Golden Globe Awards, was the granddaughter of the actor's first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw.

Freeman previously paid tribute to his tragic relative, stating, "The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace".
