Should the deal be closed, Harrelson will play Admiral Chester Nimitz, while it is still unclear who Moore will portray.

AceShowbiz - Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore are reportedly in talks to join the cast of Roland Emmerich's World War II epic "Midway". If Harrelson signs on, he will star as Admiral Chester Nimitz. It is unclear who Moore will portray.

The film will center on the Battle of Midway, a naval fight between American and Japanese soldiers which took place in the Pacific Ocean in June, 1942. The film's script has been written by Wes Tooke and production is scheduled to begin in August in Hawaii and Canada.

Emmerich, who is also producing the project, is reportedly putting together an ensemble cast, but the other actors have yet to be announced. The movie is set to be presented to international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next week, May 7.

This isn't the first film that has focused on the Battle of Midway. In 1976, Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn, and Toshiro Mifune starred in "Midway".
