The 68-year-old rock superstar only needs to win an award at Emmys before he can join the likes of Quincy Jones and Barbra Streisand in the club.

AceShowbiz - Bruce Springsteen only needs an Emmy to join the exclusive EGOT club as he is set to receive a special Tony Award. Tony chiefs announced on Tuesday, May 1 that they will honor the rock superstar for his one man show Springsteen on Broadway.

Having already won an Oscar and 20 Grammy Awards, he now only needs to win the top TV prize to complete the 'EGOT' set of prestigious entertainment prices. Only 18 people in history have completed the EGOT (Emmy, Gramy, Oscar, Tony), with Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones and Whoopi Goldberg among those to have done so.

Last October 2017 the "Dancing in the Dark" rocker began a "personal and intimate" five nights a week residency in Manhattan's Walter Kerr Theatre so he could treat fans to songs and stories from his legendary career.

The show has been such a runaway success that by the time he finishes his run in December, more than a year after the originally announced end date, he will have performed 236 times.

Bruce's producers chose not to enter the show in any competitive Tony categories, but when Leslie Odom Jr. and Katharine McPhee announced the nominees for the theater prizegiving they revealed he would be honored with a special award.

The 68-year-old rocker won his first Grammy way back in 1985, and nabbed an Oscar in 1994 when his track "Streets of Philadelphia", from the film Philadelphia, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. He has been nominated for an Emmy twice before, once for his 2001 TV special "Bruce Springsteen" and the "E Street Band: Live in New York City", and again in 2009 when his Super Bowl halftime just came up short.
