The 'Drunk in Love' hitmaker announces that students from Xavier University, Wilberforce University, Tuskegee University, and Bethune-Cookman University will each receive $25,000.

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles sure has a good heart. Following her triumphant Coachella performance, she has announced the expansion of her scholarship initiative to four of America's historically black colleges.
On Monday, April 16, directors at the singer's BeyGOOD Initiative's Homecoming Scholars Award programme, formerly known as the Formation Scholars Award programme, announced students from Xavier University, Wilberforce University, Tuskegee University, and Bethune-Cookman University will each receive $25,000 for the 2018/2019 academic year.
"The show, with its homage to excellence in education, was a celebration of the homecoming weekend experience, the highest display of college pride," a statement reads. "The energy-filled production put the spotlight on art and culture, mixing the ancient and the modern, which resonated masterfully through the marching band, performance art, choir and dance.
"We salute the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities," Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Relations at Parkwood Entertainment, which houses the singer's BeyGOOD Foundation, says. "We honor all institutions of higher learning for maintaining culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students."
Beyonce launched the scholarships initiative in 2017. The new recipients will be announced this summer.
During her Coachella performance, she reunited with her Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (II) and was joined onstage by her husband Jay-Z and sister Solange Knowles. She also honored the legacy and traditions of black universities by incorporating over 150 musicians, dancers, a marching band and choir, which reflected the themes of the learning institutions.
In addition, the "Drunk in Love" hitmaker became the first black female to headline the festival when she took to the stage for her set, which she was forced to cancel a year ago when she fell pregnant with her twins.
