AceShowbiz - Chris Evans is back on the market. The 36-year-old actor and his on-again, off-again girlfriend Jenny Slate have called it quits for the second time. Reggie Ugwu of New York Times casually revealed the news in a profile on Chris.

Reggie wrote, "their on-again, off-again relationship, beloved by the internet, recently ended." Meanwhile, Chris didn't give any details about their breakup. Instead, he recalled reading Rebecca Solnit's "The Mother of All Questions" while they were still together, noting that he needed to listen more and speak less after reading the book.

Reps for Chris and Jenny did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Chris and Jenny, who co-starred in comedy-drama film "Gifted", dated from June 2016 to February 2017. They first sparked reconciliation rumors after they were spotted enjoying dinner together in Atlanta while the actor filmed his movie "Avengers: Infinity War". The two were later spotted together again on a double-date with his pal Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey.

The former couple appeared to confirm that they gave their failed romance another go when they were spotted apartment-hunting in New York City. An eyewitness revealed at the time that the hunky actor and the "Saturday Night Live" alum looked "very much back together."

Earlier this year, rumors were swirling around the internet saying that they planned to tie the knot. "Getting back together was the best thing they ever did and they've come out wiser and more appreciative," a source previously revealed. "It's been heaven living together in New York and now they're making plans to get married next summer or spring at the earliest."

"One of the nice things about Jenny is that she can hang with him and his buddies and have a good time," the insider gushed over the actress. "She's very sociable," the source continued, adding that Chris "can't imagine life without her."
