Colin Firth's Wife Admits She Had an Affair With Alleged Stalker

The alleged stalker, Marco Brancaccia, reportedly sent naked photos of Firth's wife Livia Giuggioli to the actor and a threatening message to Giuggioli.

AceShowbiz - Colin Firth's wife Livia Giuggioli has admitted to a past affair with an Italian journalist who later turned into an alleged stalker. Giuggioli had a romantic relationship with Ansa news agency bureau chief Marco Brancaccia between 2015 and 2016. During that period, the British actor and his wife separated. But when the affair ended, Brancaccia reportedly began harassing her with "frightening" messages.

In a statement released on Friday, March 9, the couple's rep said, "A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited."

"Subsequently, Mr Brancaccia carried out a frightening campaign of harassment over several months, much of which is documented. As a consequence of his stalking, threats and refusal to desist, the legal complaint was lodged with the Italian authorities," the statement continued to read.

The rep added, "For obvious reasons, the Firths have never had any desire to make this matter public. The reporting this week on this case is understood to be the consequence of a leaked court document. This is greatly to be regretted. It does not serve the interests of any of the parties involved."

According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the court documents mentioned that Brancaccia sent naked photos of Giuggioli to Firth and allegedly told her, "If you end our relationship I will ruin your life," which left her "living in terror."

Brancaccia has denied the stalking allegations, telling The Times, "We were romantically involved, she wanted to leave Colin for me." He claimed that the couple's marriage had "been over for years." He added, "In a year she sent me hundreds of messages of love, photos and videos, even a diary."

Brancaccia also claimed his "stalking" consisted of two WhatsApp messages and an email to Firth once the affair ended. "I wrote an email to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending, and she filed a complaint against me for stalking out of fear that I could go public with what she had revealed to me about her marriage and work," he said.

Brancaccia's lawyers said he had "filed a legal complaint to protect his good name ... and to be able to supply his version of the truth."

Firth and Giuggioli tied the knot in 1997. They have two children together, Luca Firth and Matteo Firth. The "Kingsman: The Secret Service" actor also has a son, Will Firth, from his previous relationship with Meg Tilly.
