Josh Duhamel and Jimmi Simpson star as LAPD detectives who try to answer the long-burning questions about the assassinations of the two hip-hop stars.

AceShowbiz - Weeks leading to its premiere, USA Network has released a new promo for its new series "Unsolved". The first season centers on the murder investigations of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace) which still leave unanswered questions twenty years after the infamous murders.

The approximately two-minute promo offers a glimpse of Wavyy Jonez as Notorious B.I.G., and Marcc Rose as Tupac Shakur. Working hard to try solving the case are Detective Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel) and Detective Russell Poole (Jimmi Simpson).

"Suge Knight might be involved," someone remarks, as some detectives believe the two hip-hop stars' murders might be parts of a big conspiracy involving police officers. "This has to stop," Detective Poole says in another scene.

The first season of "Unsolved" is based on the experiences of former LAPD Detective Kading, who is also the author of the book "Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations". In 2016, Kading was asked to help spearhead a multi-agency task force with the sole purpose of finding out who was responsible for the murder of Smalls.

Detective Poole is the man who investigated Smalls' murder in 1997. He became convinced that the LAPD was covering something up, and his findings eventually led Smalls' mother, Voletta Wallace, to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the department. Meanwhile, Officer Dupree (played by Bokeem Woodbine on the TV series) is the man who became a key member of the task force, one with a deep knowledge of both Los Angeles gangs and the rap industry in 2006.

Emmy-nominated director Anthony Hemingway ("American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson") spearheaded the project and directed the pilot, in addition to serving as executive producer along with Mark Taylor and Kyle Long, who also penned the script. Kading serves as co-writer and co-executive producer for the project.

Also starring Jamie McShane, Brent Sexton, Luke James, Aisha Hinds and LeToya Luckett, "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G." premieres Tuesday, February 27 at 10 P.M. ET on USA Network.
