Kate Middleton truly has the heart of a saint. The Duchess of Cambridge, who is known for her luscious long hair, has come up with a very personal way to support a child cancer charity. She has donated her hair to help make wigs for young patients.
Sunday Express was the first one to break the news. The publication reported that her seven inches of hair was anonymously sent to a charity called the Little Princess Trust, an organization which makes wigs from real hair for children going through cancer treatments.
Helen Creese, a spokesperson for the charity, later confirmed the news to PEOPLE. "It's lovely to think that somebody, somewhere -- probably more than one person -- has received a wig containing Princess Kate's hair," he said. "It's a really lovely thought and it's fantastic for raising awareness, plus it's gorgeous hair -- we all lust after that hair!"
As for tracking down which lucky patient may have received a wig containing Kate's hair, Creese explained that it's an impossible task, adding that many donations are anonymous. "We like to thank everyone and send out little certificates to all our donors," he said. "But lots of people don't fill in the paperwork and they don't feel the need to be acknowledged in that way, but we are always very grateful."
Two years ago, Harry Styles did the same exact thing as the Duchess. The One Direction member chopped off his trademark locks and donated it to the charity. Harry shared on Instagram a picture of him holding his cut-off ponytail while giving a thumbs up. "Whoops," so he captioned the pic that attracted over two million likes.
"You did an amazing thing by giving it to charity," a fan wrote in the comment section, supporting his decision. Another said, "Donating your hair for charity Harry you're such a gentleman."
