AceShowbiz - In Saturday, January 27 episode of "Saturday Night Live", Will Ferrell returned to the Studio 8H for the first time since 2015, when he made a cameo along with musical guest Chris Stapleton. The "Zoolander 2" actor reprised his role as George W. Bush in the cold open that night, skewering President Donald Trump.
"I know what you're thinking, 'What the heck is the handsome devil doing back in the Oval Office?' The truth is, this is just a set. I had it built in my basement in Texas, so I could pretend to still be president sometimes," Ferrell's Bush said.
He went on touching the topics about the current president, whom he called "Donald Q. Trump." He quipped, "Donny Q. Trump came in and suddenly I'm looking pretty sweet by comparison. At this rate I might even end up on Mount Rushmore, right next to Washington, Lincoln -- and I want to say Kensington."
Ferrell's Bush also made a joke about him creating ISIS and two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. "Don't forget: We're still in two different wars that I started. What has two thumbs and created ISIS? This guy!" he said while pointing at himself.
During his monologue, Ferrell proved that he could work through a head injury. Bleeding head didn't stop the "Saturday Night Live" alum from delivering his epic, emotional monologue, in which he explained that he injured his head during his quick change backstage and lost his memory. "I can't remember a thing, except that I was going to sing," the comedian said, before singing to "I Think I'm Gonna Like it Here" from "Annie".
That night's "Weekend Update" tackled politics right away, starting from the government shutdown to Trump attempting to fire Robert Mueller. "I do love that Trump tried to fire Mueller, and now he's got to sit with him and answer all of his questions. That's got to be awkward," anchor Michael Che said. "You ever try to press door close on somebody in an elevator but they make it in anyway, and now you've got to talk to Colin [Colin Jost] about white golfers?"
Ferrell also made an appearance in segment. The host once again played his classic character Jacob Silj, an economic commentator struggling to cope with Voice Immodulation Syndrome which means he couldn't control the volume or tone of his speech. When Colin tried to interrupt, Ferrell defended himself by saying that he was simply being passionate about the issue he was talking about. "Voice Immodulation Syndrom or VIS has been diagnosed in over zero people in the United States alone," Ferrell shouted.
One of the best sketches that night was this deodorant commercial. Taking aim at the men whose time is up, the commercial spoof saw Ferrell advertising "Next for Men", a deodorant "for men feeling the heat...because their time is coming up." Playing a businessman who was just fired over sexual allegations, Ferrell said, "The way I sweat, my regular deodorant wasn't cutting it anymore. I work hard and I play hard. And something's coming out about me real soon…because I'm next."
The ad also featured Kyle Mooney and Alex Moffat. Mooney's stand-up comedian character was about to go on stage when sexual harassment allegations against him were made public. "It's happening," he said to the camera, before adding, "but not under here," flaunting his sweat-free armpits.
Moffat played an actor on the red carpet. The ad concluded with Kate McKinnon's character telling Ferrell's character that he's "disgusting," to which he proudly bragged, "But my pits aren't."
