Ryan Meinerding, who served as the head of visual development on 'Homecoming', shares a new concept art showing the web-slinger perching near a tree adorned with Christmas light decoration.

AceShowbiz - With its summer release, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" isn't even near to having a Christmas vibe. But concept artist Ryan Meinerding, who served as the head of visual development on "Homecoming", has shared his vision of what the web-slinger would do around the holiday season.

Wishing everyone a merry Christmas, Meinerding recently shared a new concept art which showed Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) perching near a tree adorned with Christmas light decoration. "Christmas Day is nearly over where I am right now but it's just getting started in California where I live! I hope everyone is having a wonderful season with family and friends whatever holiday you celebrate!" he captioned it.

"Spider: Homecoming" grossed $880.2 million worldwide, making it the second most successful Spider-Man film and the fourth highest-grossing film of 2017. The sequel is scheduled to be released on July 5, 2019 in U.S. theaters, with production slated to start next year.

Holland is set to reprise his role as the titular superhero, with Zendaya Coleman returning as Peter's nerdy classmate Michelle "MJ" Jones. Jon Watts is on board to serve as director once again, while Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are back as screenwriters.

Recent reports said that the upcoming movie would feature Peter Parker's famous love interest Gwen Stacy with a twist. Several audition tapes have surfaced, showing a French actress named Louna and German actress Iris Haller auditioning for the part. This could mean that the character may be depicted as a foreign exchange student who may be born in France or Russia and will transfer to Peter's school.

With the arrival of Gwen Stacy, "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" may also set up a love triangle storyline between Peter, MJ and Gwen, although Zendaya's MJ is not the Mary Jane whom fans have known from the comic books. In the original comics, Gwen and MJ are vying for Peter's heart, but Gwen bites the dust at the hands of the Green Goblin.
