Anna Faris Deceives Eugenio Derbez in 'Overboard' First Trailer
Movie

After tormented by Derbez's selfish, rich playboy character, Faris' Kate gets revenge on him by convincing him he is her husband and putting him to work when he suffers from amnesia.

AceShowbiz - Does Anna Faris go overboard with her revenge on Eugenio Derbez in the first trailer of their romantic comedy "Overboard"? A gender-switching remake of the 1987 Garry Marshall-directed comedy starring Goldie Hawn as a pampered heiress and Kurt Russell as a tormented carpenter, the upcoming movie has Faris and Derbez in reversed roles.

The newly-released trailer shows the hardships that Kate (Faris) has to endure as a single mother who raises three children. It also offers a glimpse of Kate and Leonardo's (Derbez) life-changing encounter that initially causes Kate to suffer even more. When Leonardo suffers from amnesia, Kate doesn't miss a chance to get revenge by claiming him as her husband and putting him to work.

Directed by Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg, the "Overboard" remake is described as a fresh take on the iconic romantic comedy. In a splashy new twist, "Overboard" focuses on Leonardo, a selfish, spoiled, rich playboy from Mexico's richest family and Kate, a working class single mom of three hired to clean Leonardo's luxury yacht.

After unjustly firing Kate and refusing to pay her, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. Kate shows up at the hospital and, to get payback, convinces Leonardo he is her husband and puts him to work - for the first time in his life. At first miserable and inept, Leonardo slowly settles in. Eventually he earns the respect of his new "family" and co-workers.

But, with Leonardo's billionaire family hot on their trail and the possibility of his memory returning at any moment, will their new family last or will Leonardo finally put the clues together and leave them for good?

Fisher and Greenberg wrote the script of the remake with Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell serving as producers. Eva Longoria stars as Kate's best friend. The movie is set to open in theaters across the nation on April 20, 2018.
