Only seconds-long, the brief video features Bullock's Debbie Ocean plotting a top-secret jewelry heist with Blanchett's Lou in the film which is due out in the summer of 2018.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for "Ocean's 8" ahead of its official full trailer on Tuesday, December 19. Only seconds-long, the brief video opens with Sandra Bullock's Debbie Ocean plotting a top-secret jewelry heist with Cate Blanchett's Lou.

"Why do you need to do this?" Lou asks Debbie while eating breakfast at a local restaurant. The teaser then offers fans glimpses of the rest of the titular team of thieves, including Nine Ball (Rihanna), Amita (Mindy Kaling), Constance (Awkwafina), Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) and Tammy (Sarah Paulson), before Debbie can be seen at the end of the video responding to Lou, " 'Cause that's what I'm good at."

The 15-second teaser also hints at the death of a major character in the "Ocean's" film franchise. At the 10-mark in the video, Debbie can be seen sitting in front of a grave for Danny Ocean, her estranged brother who was played by George Clooney in Steven Sodenbergh's original "Ocean's" trilogy. Under his name, the year of 2018 is written as the time he died.

In Summer 2018, the tide will turn as Debbie Ocean attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City's star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect crew: Lou, Nine Ball, Amita, Constance, Rose, Daphne Kluger and Tammy.

Bullock recently told Entertainment Weekly of making "Ocean's 8", saying that "it's really fun." She went on saying, "Imagine all eight of us crammed into a makeup trailer in the morning. You think that it would be disastrous, but it was heaven, all of us just sharing information, all of us doing three jobs with families, our other jobs, the juggling. And then we get to shoot this movie together."

The film serves as both a sequel and spin-off of the "Ocean's" trilogy. As Bullock noted, it's not a reboot of the original "Ocean" trilogy. "We're not a reboot. We're just a 'this is what's happening in 2017,' " she said. "It's not even a passing of the torch. It's a parallel story of another family member that was raised in the same family Danny Ocean was and what happens when Debbie steps out of jail with all of these amazing, powerful women."

Directed by Gary Ross from a script he co-wrote with Olivia Milch, the film is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on June 8, 2018. Matt Damon is reprising his role as Linus Caldwell from the original trilogy, while among big names making cameo appearances in the upcoming film are Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Kim Kardashian, Zayn Malik, Kendall Jenner and Katie Holmes.
